My finished coop- The White House

I just saw yours last night too, great job!

I think the design I mostly based it off is the Wichita coop? Think that's what it's called. Then I looked at a ton of other coops on here and Pinterest to get ideas and drew up my own plan.

I was trying to save money by doing hardware cloth just on the bottom, but if I'd known how much the whole thing was going to end up costing I would have just done it all since we blew the budget anyway lol.

Do you mind sharing How much it cost? I love the design and am trying to get an idea of approximate cost. Thank you!

I think our total came to around $1000, maybe a little more. That included buying a staple gun though. We already had half of the 2x4s from a previous project. It also was built super sturdy, my dad used to do construction so it's framed like a house lol. So we spent more in materials than if we'd done basic construction by ourself. Also if we could have done cheaper roofing we would have but our hoa requires any outhouses/structures to have shingles. So I'm sure a similar structure can be built for less, but it was surprising how fast little things added up. :)

Lmao, the bottom is the only place I skipped the hardware cloth! And I ended up with more than enough that I could have.... uggghh. Oh well. Next is a home for some ducks. I'm gonna try to go cheaper this time but I doubt that will be possible for me.

whoa! I wasn't expecting that at all. I hope we can do it for way less lol. But it looks great so that's a plus!

I'm sure it can be done for a lot less, if my dad hadn't been helping we would have done a simpler way of building, though it probably wouldn't have turned out as good and would have taken twice as long lol.

Awesome coop and great job! :thumbsup I have a question. Where did you get that feeder base you have on the bucket?? That's awesome!!

It took more time and money than I expected, but our first coop is done! The White House. (All our pets have patriotic names, and our chickens are all named for famous women in US history.) my dad and brother were a huge help. I drew up plans based on some I've seen here and Pinterest. I had wanted the roof slopes to the back but because of the closeness to the neighbors yard we decided to slope towards our house instead, to avoid water runoff into their yard, and added a small back roof to block the winds that normally come from that direction.
