My first chicken ever laid her first egg today!

Congrats! Easter eggers are the best :D
they really are! It was important to me that I'd be able to easily tell my girls apart from each other, and I definitely can! I also love their beards and fluffy faces and spunky personalities. I might just stick with these "AmerACANAs" for good!

My Easter egger(labeled AmerACANA at tractor supply), Denmark, laid her first egg this morning! That means she laid her first egg at 18 weeks and 5 days! I’m so surprised!

She was making a huge racket this morning until I came and sat by the chicken run. Then she did the cutest thing and started picking up bits of shavings and straw and putting it on her back and taking it into the nesting box. I had a nesting pad in there already but I guess it wasn’t plush enough?

The egg is small, but I know it’ll get larger as she does. I’m just happy it’s solid, well formed and a beautiful beige green color! I might need to paint my kitchen cabinets this color lol!

The other two EEs have a long way to go but at least one girl is paying her rent!
Congratulations!! My olive egger laid her first egg on July 1 (10 days ago). At 14 weeks. She hasn’t laid another. I go out and check all the time. Does anyone know if this is normal?

14 weeks is very early to start laying. It's normal for pullets to come into lay and take a break for a bit. She'll start up again eventually though
