I was finally able to finish the preps for the chicks today.
Their brooder is in the kid's old play house, which I sealed, secured from animals, and cleaned. I may or may not turn this into their coop.

Went to the local feed store and came home with 4 RIR pullets.

And here's more pics...

They seem to still be staying under the light, even though it shows over 95 degrees. Could they still be cold?
Also, they pick a little at each other(eyes and feet mostly). Normal?

Maybe I'm worrying too much, I just want them to do well!

I wish I could have brought my DD's playhouse to Va when we moved from Ga. It would have been PERFECT for my goose house.

Love the fluffy butt! Have fun with them.

Yes, the picking is normal. They have to try everything to see if its good to eat. Plus, eyes look like shiny beetles and toes like delectable worms!! Ours have finally stopped, for the most part, at about 2 weeks old.

That playhouse looks like it would transform nicely into a 4-hen coop!

Thanks for the quick reply! I was thinking that too about the playhouse(please excuse the mess around it). I plan to start on the run this week!

A chicken-owners work is never done!

One more thing... do they need grit yet, or should I wait?
