My First Coop Build

Very nice design process!

Thanks! I made the plans myself, and have kind of been winging it as I'm going along. Probably why it seems to be taking me FOREVER! Worked on it a little more last night...

I used spray in truck bed liner to seal the bottom, and 3" up on all the walls. It's durable, waterproof, and has nice texture.

So close to being finished... All I have left to do is trench in and hang the wire, a little grading, and a few minor details here and there.

Looks AMAZING!!!!! I've been working on mine for weeks. All I have done so far is what is in my profile picture. I still have to build my run and do some minor things here and there. (I'm a 28 year old school teacher with no construction background though lol) Looks like you are in the construction business, because you have put that together so beautifully and quickly! Well done!!

Thanks, LilyBird. I am a surveyor, so kind of in construction, but really just pretty comfortable around a drill and a saw in general. This is my first real attempt at framing, and I am very happy with how it turned out. Hopefully the chickens like it as much as I do!

That's awesome :) I'm fairly comfortable around the tools too. I started with this dog house that my dogs never use. And everything that I've done to it so far has been done by me (except my husband put it up on the stilts). So I built the two doors at least! Haha :) I'm getting antsy to get mine done though! My goal is by end of June. It takes so long to get things done!

I needed to move my girls in last night, even though the run isn't finished yet, so I had to figure out a door. Here's what I decided on. Still needs to be stained and have a latch put on, but it works for now.
