Hi everyone!
I am new to chickens and am in the process of building my first coop!
I decided to make my own rather than buying one because I specifically wanted one tall enough for a human to walk around inside the run. I live in an urban setting so I like the idea of being able to go in and interact with the chickens for a bit without letting them or into the yard (or the neighbors).
I have never done any construction before so this is a learning curve. Luckily I have my fiance and his mom to help me, they are very knowledgeable if I have questions.
I used some free plans from HGTV I found online. Since I don't know what I'm doing I wanted something very detailed with instructions. Now I definitely wish I had found the coop section of this site first because there are some good ideas and ways to save time and money as compared with these plans I am using.

So far we just have the framing. Today we finished putting up the roof joists. Just as we were about to start with the steel roof, we discovered our order was cut incorrectly. They are replacing them for free, of course, but not for a couple weeks.
Good thing I am building my coop before I have chickens.
Hi BBZZZZTT! I'm about to start construction on this exact coop design. How is this one working out for you? Do you have any pictures of it completed?
