How many nesting boxes would be recommended for 20 hens??

The experts on BYC recommend 1 box for every 4 hens, so that's what I did! My husband made them quite large, so I think I could have more than 16 hens. I have 21 7 week old chicks, but will be rehoming at least 6 of them

I have 19 adults and 6 nest boxes but they only really use 3.

I understand about not wanting any direct sun in the structure since you are in the desert.
Perhaps making some awning style that are solid not glass or plexiglass that you could open while still shading the inside.

We built the door, and finished the siding on the back and sides. Tomorrow we finish the front! We are going to put a 2 foot window the length of the north wall. It's coming along
