MY FIRST DOUBLE YOLKER! pic

Hey,
I was really surprised to find a jumbo egg in the nest box yesterday. Since I was making an omlette, I decided to use it. Imagine the surprise when I cracked the egg and found this fabulous double yolker!
I have been giving the hens lots of dandelion and clover from the yard. Maybe that contributed to the jumbo egg. Or, maybe it's purely genetics and double ovulation, I 'm not sure.

Cool! Before we got our girls, we would get eggs from the local mennonite tack shop that we use. Almost all of their eggs were always double yolks!

I also got my first double yolker the other day and DD11 made her claims on it so I made her an egg sandwich with it last night.

My second egg was a double and a blue one at that. That is the only one I have gotten so far.

My Red Sexlinks are about 20 weeks old now and it seems I get a double yolker every couple of days.
