My first ducklings!!!

Oh good point. Our ducks and goslings get flock raiser vs the chickens getting medicated chick starter.

I may want to try your system this week. We use a 110 gallon rubber tub (horse trough) for our brooders.

Here are a couple of pictures. The fencing that goes across the brooder is just for the chicks to roost on if they so chose, doesn't serve any other purpose as both the chicks and ducklings can move easily from one side to the other. The 4X4 has worked well to keed the bedding dry.

Hi, copied and pasted a thread about niacin for you. If you get the kind from the drugstore do not get the flush free or non flush kind. I personally used a poultry vitamin pack with niacin it it when my ducks were ducklings. Now I feed them Purina flock raiser, and that has all the niacin in it that they need.

edited to add thread, oops!:

I too give my ducklings and chicks Flock Raiser (which has niacin in it), have never supplemented niacin, but have no had problem, even raising heavy breed ducks. What is everyone else's experience?

You know...I might do this JUST for my ducks. If this prevents the chips from getting soaking wet and I only have a simple towel to wash/dry...this could save us a bunch of time and money in the long run. Thanks for the idea and posting pics!

No problem. I just grab the towel once a day and run it through the wash with some bleach. The towel is disgusting after 24 hrs., but as long as the bedding is dry the towel is easy to deal with!
