Okay, i know the climate there. I have family in Seattle so I visit there often. It’s about the same as where I live, except more wet.I live in western washington not coastal a bit inland
You keep saying pullets can not lay at 4 months...Do you mean the breeds she has can’t lay that soon, or basically no pullet can lay this soon (no matter the breed)? I’m not being nit picky, just curious. I’m a newbie and am totally here to learn. So, when you say “not possible for a pullet to lay at 4 months”, my mind immediately questions my hens and their POL. I have 7 Barred Rocks and 5 Cinnamon Queens. The basic info provided at TSC where I bought them and all the “quick facts” I googled on the Barred Rocks said they would lay beginning anywhere from 16-20 weeks. I know every chicken, in & of itself, is different...and they’re definitely not worried about following the schedules I’ve read up on...but this seems to be an accepted breed standard for these girls...?Well maybe a local breed of bird layed in your nest box? I constantly have birds in my coop because of the food. its very possible a bird tried to build a nest in your coop, its just not possible for a pullet to lay a 4 months![]()
The breeds listed in the original post aren’t early laying breeds, quite late laying ones actually. You keep saying pullets can not lay at 4 months...Do you mean the breeds she has can’t lay that soon, or basically no pullet can lay this soon (no matter the breed)? Or you could just research it and see that 4 month old chickens can and do lay eggs. You keep saying pullets can not lay at 4 months...Do you mean the breeds she has can’t lay that soon, or basically no pullet can lay this soon (no matter the breed)? Well no it’s just very highly unlikely, also half the time their internals aren’t developed enough to begin producing eggs yet.You keep saying pullets can not lay at 4 months...Do you mean the breeds she has can’t lay that soon, or basically no pullet can lay this soon (no matter the breed)? Okay chickens can lay at four months, we all know that. The breeds listed in the first post cannot lay at six months and they are actually quite late layers.Or you could just research it and see that 4 month old chickens can and fo lay eggs.
No, really. I'm done. Unwatching this frustrating thread....
