My first egg but who layed it?

Okay, can we all stop the whole age argument? The OP wanted to know what breeds layed the egg, so let’s try and figure that out. One of the eggs was a cream colour and the other a lightish brown.

Nope just the lighting all eggs are green

When she said fart eggs arent a thing I got confused cause I read so many articles on them lol. But my Starlight green egger was at least to start laying at 5 months. I'm going to take a picture of her and ask my breeder maybe he can give me her acual age instead of saying around 3 months last time. Thank you

An egg laid with no yolk is tiny when compared to that same hens regular egg. Those eggs are referred to as fart, fairy, rooster eggs. While tiny and cute they are rather useless but are no indication of an issue with the birds health.

So....yes fart eggs do exist.

I thought the first eggs were gray?

Yes but that's because I had to wash that layer off its original color is green but she just laid them so there grey at first and then green.

The eggs get coated with "bloom" and that bloom can make some eggs look grey, pink or even purplish depending on the color underneath.

Okay. So they brown layers are Plymouths, Buff Orpingtons, and Australorps. So that narrows it down a bit.

Huh. All of the blooms on my eggs from my old chickens were clear. Well you learn something new everyday.

It CAN but does not always make the color appear different.

I get eggs that appear 100% brown but when wet get crazy with purplish spots. Once they dry they are just brown again.

I added it to the list of things I find fascinating but am unlikely to ever fully understand.

The color changing from green/gray to brown baffles me.

Pullets just coming into lay often lay small eggs while their systems fire up. Nothing odd about the size to me.

Your only bird that would lay green is the starlight green layer.

Yes indeed many birds lay before the magical 6 month mark. My own starlight green layers started at 15 weeks. My prairie blue bells waited until 17 weeks.
My leghorns (long ago) laid around that same age.
I have a Brahma that started at 6 months. Said to be a much slower to mature breed but each bird is unique.

To those wishing to debate the issue please start a thread asking how early a bird can lay.....or do a site search as that question has come up often.

This OP had a question that has become lost in the debate. I find that sad.

Thank you. The bloom was grey and when egg was inside the lighting changed the color. THE EGGS ARE GREEN GUYS SO PLEASE STOP SAYING OTHER BREEDS LAID THEM I FIGERED IT OUT. Wasnt yelling just saying lol. It's funny to watch all these people arguing.
