*My*First egg in 15 years!

I hope he has a long productive life and she lays great eggs for many years :frow:wee
Thank you everyone's been really helpful. I understand the logic for not treating for some keepers. I only have young birds intended as pets wth egg, gardening, and insect removal benefits. So giving him a little help seemed best.

Meat spots? This egg doesn't smell fabulous but my nose is off from being down with the flu all week.
Second pic, is that a bullseye, was it fertile?

Sadly, no. Bowling-ball and friend are still headed to freezer camp as soon as the weather warms a touch. It has been so cold on the days I have time to do the dead, and I won't do it when it is below 0 degrees out. I am a sissy. I can see that they are starting to have a hard time moving around. They still try to run after the treats, but it doesn't work so well for them. I have them in a separate area from the layers, they are just too darn big to go up and down the ramp and I would rather not have them break their legs or have heart/health problems. There is a lot of feed invested in those girls, they are quite spoiled.

Ah well I guess she tried anyway, have to admire the extra contributions from her. I never raised any, didn't realize they really truly have an expiration date like that. Happy eating!

You can also give her half a Tums tablet for a quick calcium boost, till you get some oyster shell. I've done this with a couple of my hens, works very well.
I have the oyster shell so they'll have it today. Actually after I cracked that egg I have to retract, it felt thin but was sturdy enough after all.

Deviled eggs! :lau
