My first egg, in the wrong place! see pic

Update,

I have two very annoyed barred rocks doing a lot of yelling, and refusing to lay in any nest I make, want to lay eggs in poop under roost, two of them.
the buffs look agreeable to laying in the box I provided, but are not laying yet. they just crawl in and out, purring. if they would lay, I bet the barreds would follow them.
tried a milk carte, they did not like it, now have a soild planter on its side, with straw in it.

Have two more eggs yesterday, from barreds.
good qualilty I broke them to check them, nice strong yellow yolks, strong shells, all is well except where they will be layed.
they are throwing the plastic egg around like a toy, small tennis ball was what I had to try, no golf balls at our house.
so I removed the roost last night and gave them more milk crates on their sides , I am trying to be patient, and the poor dears, love showing me their eggs, in the poop corner.

will collect eggs and start eating, just bought a dozen from my friend, her chcikens just jump up and lay in the boxes, no problems, and she hates chickens..... life is not fair.
am at work today, so will collect at dark tonight

sigh, all advice welcome
how long will this take? will I win?
or will those smart barreds win ?

Jkm.... hope you find the eggs in the nests tonight!!!!! My Aracuana just laid her first egg in the mulch in front of the house. Since Sunday I have kept all the chicks penned up. Still haven't gotten my second egg yet. Does anyone know how long it takes for them to lay regularly?

JKM what abotu using reverse psychology and putting the nexting crates where they are wanting to lay. Then moving the nesting boxes closer to where you want them to lay.

k- How cool your Aracuana is laying. are they blue or another color?

I moved the nesting box to where they want to lay, took away roost so they can't poop in box, set up another box, they now have a choice of three, and I could set number four back up in the run .....

all this is a space that is 4 x 4, almost no empty space left to lay in ....
am I frustrated by chcikens or what.....
but the rains will be here tomorrow, big storm,,, so they will use a box yes, lets be positive

so far four -five eggs, suddenly four eggs a day is looking like real possibility

Well,
(can't type, cut finger bad on house work,,,,)
rained like hell until 3 pm today.

yesterday, one egg next to box,
one egg in middle of run after 30 min pen beak at 6 pm, oh my ,
one found behind coop door at bedtime.
three eggs in one day, two barred rocks, two buffs. hmmm

one egg in nest box today! must be a buff!!! ( silly buffs, what great backyard chicks)
hopefully three eggs in am in box!
girls happy with 30 min run around garden at 5 pm /
2 came fast in coop when I called.
two needed sheltie /stick assist.
hope for 3 eggs in box tomorrow.

heard a cat box made a nice nest.... see small brown egg.. next to taped cheap plastic egg...and cheap plastic whiffle balls, no golf balls in my town.
so someone is happy with correct nest... bet it is a buff.

Well miss barred threw a temper tantrum when I put her in the nest box as a suggestion,
egg in the run,
miss buff just gets in the nest box and lays an egg,
from 2 barreds and two buffs I am getting two eggs a day for the last four days, I know its a buff and a barred,
of course the chicken we called "stupid" is using the box, so much for appearences.

I have not seen my big buff laying yet, about 23 weeks now.

oh two eggs today 5 pm
