My first egg!

On this cold, windy day I got my first egg. It's small and broken on one end but it's exciting! I think it came from the hen we got 6 weeks ago that was already laying when we got her. I just put a larger lip on the box to keep them from dumping out the hay. Now what to do about them pecking the egg? Can I still eat it? The membrain is intact.

Congrats! You can still eat the egg, I don't think they pecked I think it was cracked because when she laid it it hit the wood. You need to put more hay/straw/shavings or whatever you use in the nesting boxes.
