Congrats! Those first eggs help all the effort and worrying worth it.
My hens don't use nesting boxes. They're happy to make their own nest each night in their bedding.
When my hatchlings started laying last year it was staggered. One started then about a week later the next started and so on. By then they had a routine in place. One hen picked where she would lay and the others would join in or comply.
Two of my hens laid two eggs a day when they first started. I'd find one in the nest and one in the run. Not a big deal when its warm out but my girls started laying in December and temps were cold enough to freeze eggs then. After those first couple days it didn't happen like that again.
I've since gotten double eggs from hens but now they all make it into the nest.
