MY FIRST EVER CHICK JUST HATCHED 20 MINS ago!!! HELP PLZ

okay well i could prob do better what would you recommend under my circumstances like i wanna find an ideal environment before i go to bed.. i dunno if its to warm or to cold. my rooms room temp. without the lamp here is a pic of the bulb

lol okay but how far should it be from the bird.. lol to tell you the truth i have no idea.. i wish i knew my dog attacked some bird while we were in the forest a couple weeks ago messed up the nest and crushed most of the eggs 3 survived the attack but only one hatched

i don`t knnow much about birds but the mother bird was brown and decent sized bigger than most flying birds

Do you have a regular light bulb you could replace that one with? Also, do you have a shoe box or an old drawer or something that has a lot of space?

I'm thinking that type of bulb doesn't produce much heat. If you have a shoebox or something, you can put the bulb about 5 or 6" up from the box and the chick can move under the bulb for more heat or away if it is too hot.

And if you have a thermometer, a candy thermometer, meat thermometer, even a thermometer you use to take your temp, you could put it under the light where the chick is for a few minutes (about 3 or 5) and see what temp it reads. Some idea of the temp is better than none
