My First Flock

(someone can correct me if I'm wrong...) But Ive read that you shouldn't keep turkeys together with diseases due to diseases they share back and forth.

My whole flock were newborn babies that came from the same place. We already had 5 adult peafowl that wander our property. We don't plan on adding any adults to the flock, so no new birds to bring diseases with them. When the turkeys are old enough they will be allowed to free roam and we will start getting them used to living in the barn.

The only nearby neighbors who have chickens are about 1/2 mile away, one of my peacock males goes and visits with them, we've kept an eye on him and he's healthy. He hasn't been roaming so far away now that the babies have started going outside into their run. He even shows off to the babies ;) and comes running when I open up the window to let the babies out in the morning.

We are hoping that any chance of diseases showing up is past now.
