I bought my first peeps May 1st. I received 10 hens and 2 roosters. They are all the barred rock breed. I have lost one of my hens to a doggy getting to personal with his food so now I have 9 hens. I enjoy my chickens a lot. They have not started to lay yet but since they are 17 weeks old I'm hoping it is right around the corner. Getting prepared for the day and giving them extras in the evening so they have more protein to produce plenty of yummy eggs. I keep them in the pen in the morning with lots of grain so they will eat their fill, and I let them loose towards noon. They free range the rest of the day, haven't seen a grasshopper all year!
