Just ordered 6 guinea keets from Ideal Hatchery. Frech Guineas straight run. We have an abundance of other poultry and farm animals but I've never had guineas! Excited! Now to research how to take care of these critters!

Enjoy your new Guineas!

I have 7 of them and they are quite entertaining.

They are also LOUD 98% of the time!

Sometimes the guineas can be aggressive towards the chickens, especially when you're feeding treats (guineas don't like to share).
I usually put the treats on the ground and stand there with my "stick" to keep the guineas away while the chickens eat.

They are great "guard" animals, too. They will sound their LOUD alarm if anything approaches.
I also saw my guineas corner a stray dog inside the hay feeder. The poor dog didn't know what to do.
When it saw me, he ran into the woods with all 7 of my guineas in hot pursuit! It was hilarious!

Anyway, like I said, enjoy your guineas. There will never be a dull moment.

Got in my guineas this morning. Adorable! Shocked at how much they sleep compared to my ducks, chicks and turkey babies. Scared me for a bit but they are indeed just sleeping :)

Wait 'til you see them all crashed hard, laid flat out, with their feet sticking out behind them under the glow of the brooder lamp... you'll think they are dead, lol. Believe me, the sleeping all the time thing goes away in a few days... then you're really in for it, lol.

Congrats on your new babies, Post some pics!
