We live in an older neighborhood in suburbia outside Sacramento and so not a lot, about 3/4 of an acre, but a big chunk is our pool and landscaping. Someday I plan to have this much or more out in the country where it's all usable and I can build a huge coop and maybe a pond for my duckies!how much land do you have now?
you're so good for waiting! I live in quite an urban area, but have a large enough space for my ducks, though I only have two.We live in an older neighborhood in suburbia outside Sacramento and so not a lot, about 3/4 of an acre, but a big chunk is our pool and landscaping. Ya, that's not enough land for ducks! I hope you get more land soon! How many chickens do you have?We live in an older neighborhood in suburbia outside Sacramento and so not a lot, about 3/4 of an acre, but a big chunk is our pool and landscaping. Definitely give them more time. I usually look for intact blood vessels if they're not moving as a sign things are still going. Sometimes they are really deep sleepers!sadly I finished candling the eggs and now 2 aren't moving. I am going to give them a couple more days before I throw them out. but it's so sad.
Ummm, I have reached the "I am not entirely sure" number of chickens haha. I won't be keeping them all, I have a bunch already spoken for on a wait list. I have 23 adult or almost adult chickens, 12 standards and 11 bantams. Then I also have 19 chicks and more that I am incubating! Sounds like a lot, but most of the chicks are tiny bantams...d'Uccles and d'Anvers, and several are boys that will need to be rehomed as I already have 4 boys. I will be thinning out the chicks as they mature and I decide which ones I want to keep--wish I could have ALL the girls but not enough space. They're all super fun breeds and varieties so I am not too concerned that they will go un-sold. The mixed bird eggs my broody cochins hid from me while I was sick might be a bit tougher though haha. Although everyone seems to want OEs these days!Ya, that's not enough land for ducks! I hope you get more land soon! How many chickens do you have?
Yeah it's tough, but I could never own something I didn't have the ability to own properly. That poor horse! I can't believe someone is okay letting it live that way. It's worse than a zooyou're so good for waiting! I live in quite an urban area, but have a large enough space for my ducks, though I only have two.
But not everyone thinks of their future animal's welfare-
Someone who lives nearby (small house on a main road) has a *horse*
and they dont even have a garden. They graze him tied up on a grass verge on the road, and bring him in the house at night.
Unbelievable
Someday I want to get some d'Uccles or d'Anvers! Have you ever had silkies?Ummm, I have reached the "I am not entirely sure" number of chickens haha. Yes! I have 4 silkies! They make amazing broodies! I have two that I got from someone's personal backyard flock so they are little and have small crests but are super hardy and healthy and I have two I paid a bunch for that were pullets and come from quality stock and have gorgeous crests. I love all of them, they are sooo docile and patientSomeday I want to get some d'Uccles or d'Anvers! Have you ever had silkies?
