My First hatch...BABIE PICS!!!!

So I put 12 eggs under my 1st broody and 10 of them hatched today!! WOOOHOOO they are doing great and mama is doing a great job!

The Big girls are not even paying any attention to them, so that's good that they wont bother them...too much

They are a mix of a Dominique rooster over RIR, silver laced wyndottes and salmon favorel hens.....5 black (one with yellow on the top of the head), 1 brown with dark brown on the back and 4 yellow with the same brown line and "eye liner"

How did your broodie act with the babies at first? Did she peck at the eggs or peck at them? Did she fluff up at them? My first time broodie hatched one and i found it dead ....so i watched as the others hatched and she pecked at it as it was trying to hatch but would roll it back under her. then after it hatched she bit at it and pecked it and fluffed up at it...i took them away from her because i thought she was hurting them but since this is the first time i have ever attempted to hatch out eggs i wasnt sure if i was reading her wrong...what do you think?

holderh, unfotunatelly I missed them hatching. When I went to make sure everyone was ok in the coop and to collect eggs at 9 am I had a coop full of chicks running around (yeah I splet in woohoo! lol)...they had to be born a few hrs from 9 and the last one hatched was still even a lil 'wet".

mama is doing great with them, she has claimed an area of the coop and the other girls wont even come close hahahaha....

Now me.....hmmmm, well I should have known not to let them out free ranging w/o me there. this Am I had my wife calling me like crazy since some chicks had gone next door! hahhahahaha (chain link fence wont keep chicks in...REALLY?

duh, I know) But everyone is back with mama and doing great!
