My first Hatch. Itzy and Ditzy's BBS Cochin eggs

Well i am getting ready to start my first hatch since childhood many many moons ago! I am excited and nervous! I finally got my (unbroken) incubator since the first one came broken......... So that is set up and running. I have 9 eggs to set right now, hoping she lays another one tomorrow before I set them. she laid today but think it was stuck to her fluffy butt and fell out in the run and the other girls/and boy pecked it until finally they broke into it after a few hours. UGH! I will be putting them in around 2pm tomorrow!!!!!!!!! So hatch date of April 13 if I figured it out right. Should I candle them Sat or wait till Mon or do both? I am sure I will have lots of questions as I go. I will post up pics of the "proud" parents in a bit. Hoping for some splash Cochins out of this group!

I have 8 chicks ordered from my local feed store that will be in on April 15/16 so hatching (hopefully) some to join them! Then hopefully going to another local feed store to pick up a few more breeds that mine didn't have that same week. I am soooo excited! Really hope that some of these eggs work out and hatch to help pass the next 3 weeks faster till my other chicks come in.

I had hoped this would help speed up the waiting till the chicks I am getting came in on April 15/16, bu tit is doing the opposite and slowing it down! I can't believe it has only been 2 days sine I set the eggs. it feels like FOREVER. I am dying to candle to see if any are developing, but know it won't show anything yet. Hoping once they start developing, well I hope they do, it will speed up the time a little bit. haahaa.

I sure hope so. Not sure why but I keep thinking they are all going to be duds.... Really hope I am wrong. I figure I may try with a couple on Sunday but not expecting to see anything then since it will only be day 4.

Don't stress yourself out. I'm sure they won't all be duds, silly! Do you remember how I was convinced none of my shipped eggs would develop?

You might be able to see something on Sunday! The duck eggs take 28 days to hatch instead of the 21 for chickens, and I could see a couple tiny embryos on duck egg day 5 if you recall!

I know it seems slow right now but it will be hatch day before you know it!
