My first hatch!

Yes, it’s my first time. The brooder is all ready for them. I am not sure what cancel testing is, could you please explain? Yes, I have all of the things to care for them, and know how to clean pasty butt. Thank you!
I looked up 'cancel testing' and it seems to be a different term for lockdown which is when you stop turning the eggs and leave the eggs alone until they hatch. The term is new to me too, so I could be wrong.

Hi, welcome to the forum! Glad you joined! And congratulations on those chicks. It is a great feeling when they hatch.

I have one question: (S)he is quite active and causing the other eggs to roll around quite a bit, is that alright?
Some people worry about that but I don't. The best I can tell, commercial hatcheries don't worry about it either. Some of them hatch 1,000,000 chicks each week so I figure they know what they are doing.

No matter what you do something can go wrong. One thing I had happen once is that an egg got cupped in a half-shell from a previously hatched chick so the chick in that egg would have had trouble pipping or zipping if it tried that where the shell overlapped. I consider something like that to be such a rare occurrence that it isn't something I worry about. If it happens I deal with it.

Again, I am verry happy to say that the third chick has hatched! His/her name is Sunny. (S)he’s VERY cute and sweet!

Good choices on names. If its a female pullet,, then its SUNNY. If it turns out to be a male,, then its SONNY :thumbsup

Just wanted to pass this hint on water in your brooder.
Consider a container not very deep, and with marbles inside. This way if chicks do decide to walk into it,,, that don't get totally wet. It also keeps small chicks from drowning in deeper pans.
