Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! Congratulations on your chick :celebrate Its such an amazing experience when you watch them hatch, I just love it. Do your other eggs have pips? Do you think you will have more hatchers? For now the chick is fine to stay in the incubator to dry and fluff up and hopefully you will have more chicks soon. They can survive for upto 72 hours without food and water due to the yolk they absorb during the hatching process. I like to move mine though after about 24 hours. Do you have your brooder set up and ready? Once your hatch is complete you can move them to the brooder. Here is a lovely section of the learning centre on hatching and raising chicks https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/hatching-eggs-and-raising-chicks

Wishing you the very best and enjoy BYC :frow

This chick hatched on day 23. The other 2 have no pip so I'm thinking they probably won't hatch. I'm in the process of setting up a little brooder for it. I have a small box with pine shavings. I'm keeping in it my bathroom and have a space heater heating the room up for it. Was wondering with the room being warm from the space heater if I needed to invest in a heat lamp?

I would get a lamp. The chick needs to keep warm especially as its on its own it won't have hatch mates to keep warm with. Newly hatched should be 95f for the first week under the heat lamp them lowered by 5f each week untill they are fully feathered out. Here is a lovely article on raising chicks Definatly worth a read through https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/raising-chicks-artificially
Do you think you would be able to get it a friend? They do so much better when they are not on their own and are much happier.

Very useful information, thank you! I however don't have a companion for the chick, maybe a small stuffed animal? I will have more chicks hatching in about a week. I will also go ahead and buy a new bulb for the heat lamp.

Yes a stuffed animal would be good for the chick. If you have others hatching in a week you should be able to add your first chick to them. Upto about 2 weeks old you can add younger ones that's when they usually start sorting the pecking order out.

I will for sure add a stuffed animal until the others hatch. I went and got a heat bulb and took the heater out. We are all good to go
