My First Hatching Experience!!!

I put all 8 of my Serama eggs under my broody... I hear they may do better than in an incubator. My hen is a first time broody but she is amazing so far, very dedicated. I am still figuring out the whole incubation business and I have other eggs in my incubator that are due sooner so I hope my broody does a good job. I think she must be the opposite of other hens because she is a pain normally but completely docile when broody. They are on day 10 I believe and I put one other Serama egg under her that is farther along but not sure if it is viable. If it hatches I'll take it away so she can keep sitting. I hear Serama eggs usually hatch at 19 days under a broody and around 21 in an incubator. I recently got a trio of Serama so I hope to have more eggs to experiment with soon.

Well I don't know if we did anything wring but its been 23 days and no chicks :-( is that bad since we have 18 eggs? Or is this sorta normal?

Sadly I lost all but the single egg I put under
My broody hen :( I am going to purchase some Serama chicks on Monday and the egg with the hen is doing great it's day 13 and it's moving you can actually see
Little feet move around!!!

Ahhh, that's too bad! Was the one under the broody your best air cell? I wish I could buy chicks here but haven't been able to find any. I did drive a ways for eggs and my broody hatched 7/7... they do have the perfect formula under there ; ) I did find an adult trio, and they may not be the best for breeding, but they are sweet and I figure I can try to hatch some of their eggs in the bator before I buy more expensive ones. I just set 11 yesterday. I keep looking for breeders I can drive to, even if it is a few hours, because I don't want to try shipped eggs again for a long time if I can help it. Seems like lots of eggs do better in the mail than Seramas do.

Glad you have one eggy still! Only a week (or so) to go!!!

Aww, I'm so sorry. At least you have one egg left that is developing well (and baby chicks to get on Moday! :D )
I'm going to be receiving some more Serama eggs this week to add to the incubator! Also, surprisingly my White Leghorn Lemon has gone broody. Usually Leghorns don't get broody and I've heard that if they do, most of the time they are bad mothers. Well...it just happened that I had some fertile eggs from a nearby agricultural school and I plopped them in the nesting box for her to incubate. :) Let's see what happens.
