My first hatchlings

I am curious what you all think about my black hen shown here. She's one of three that one of my Amberlink hens hatched out and I think she's from one of my Bard rock hens. I also have Amberlink and Buckeye hens. My black hen is quite unusual in her coloring....I thought she would look like my Bard rocks but she doesn't. I have attached pictures of my rooster too.

Barring is a sex linked gene. A barred hen gives that gene to her sons but not to her daughters. If that were a male he would be barred, a pullet will not be barred since the father is not barred.

In theory she should be solid black but as often happens with crosses you have leakage. Some color that should not be there is leaking through. That can make interesting patterns.
