My first incubation thread

Fluffed up and in the brooder. He was doing some damage to the other eggs in the bator.

Not sure how tall to set the heat plate, so I have it at a slant and have a cloth at a slant so he can decide how he wants to lay. Its hot to my touch, but perhaps not for him.

Congratulations!

That heat plate shouldn't be too hot for you to touch. They'll tell you though as if it's too warm, they'll come lay outside of it.

I'm sorry I didn't get back to you on time about the questionable egg. I was out of state for a few days and no time to log in. I would have left it in the incubator for a few more days though. I've never had one explode if that's what you were worried about. Usually, the incidents of exploding eggs are ones left in there for the full 21 days after they died around Day 10, and even then it's very rare.
