I'm just so excited. It pipped, it zipped then popped the shell and out it came. I have no fingernails left, but the keet seems to be doing just fine!!! Pictures to follow. I have a video of the whole thing, and I hope it comes out okay. If so, I'll post it! This is SO COOL!!

I have another on the way in the next day, then two more to follow, and 12 more in lockdown, too.

Congrats!!!! Can't wait to see pics!!!!

Two were due on the 28th (today). One hatched yesterday while the other just pipped. The first one is in the brooder, but the second one doesn't seem to be making any progress. I still see movement, but it seems to be getting weaker.

Two are due on the 29th - no pips yet.

Mine aren't hatching early. I wish they were. The humidity in the hatcher is down to 70%. I'm going to have to open the hatcher and put in more water.

Congrats everyone on your hatches! Wish I could get two in one day!!!!

Oh, and the hatched keet I believe was "sticky" but is up on its legs, eating and drinking and running up under the stuffed animal in there, and also "talks" to its reflection in the mirror. I think he'll do well.

Love it! Hope you put up pics soon! and hope the others make it ok!

The other egg that was due I don't think is going to make it. Seems to keep getting weaker and weaker and won't zip the shell. But the one that did hatch is finally - FINALLY - dry enough so I can get a picture or two. He's so cute (or she...). Sure wish I had a buddy for the little guy...

You can see a spot on its back where it hasn't completely dried yet. And I do apologize for the poop. I jumped out of bed at 6:30 this morning to check on the other egg

, I haven't had coffee yet, and I'm capable of absolutely nothing until I do. Changing the liner is next on my agenda, but I really wanted to get pictures up. One keet can poop a LOT in just a few minutes. This keet's favorite spot though is sitting the thermometer. I have to shoo it away to monitor the temp.

Can anyone tell me what causes Sticky Keet?

Actually that looks normal for a single keet... not excessively sticky. When there are more of them in the hatcher climbing all over each other they do fluff out a lot faster, because the movement of them climbing all over each other sort of helps fluff them out. Sometimes I'll use a (new) soft tooth brush to help fluff a keet up if they don't fluff well on their own quick enough, even tho they are dry. (They usually express their opinion about it tho, lol). Royal Purples are such adorable keets

Maybe you'll have a couple buddies for him later from the other eggs

Very cute!!!! Congrats!!!

Some say a sticky keet is caused by too much Humidity, some say by not enough Humidity... I get a few, but it's usually just a random 1 or maybe 2 in 30-40 keets, so l haven't narrowed the exact cause down. Seems like my sticky keets come out of the smaller eggs in the batch tho...
