My first loss!! What do you think it is?

Thanks everyone for your replies....I'm better today since I went out there and everyone was safe. Whew....I'm letting them out in the run to play now and it is so much fun to watch them fly. I don't know how someone bears it when something gets in and gets them all because the others were quite a comfort today.
DH put out snake away and we sealed every crack and hole we could find no matter how small (used that can foam that drys hard--of course where they couldn't get to it)

It is always the favorites. I lost 4 pullets to a neighboring dog attack yesterday and two of them were family favorites not destined for the dinner table. sorry for your loss ErinM

I concur. In my mystery Friday 13th attack of yesterday, they were both my favorites and best looking hens. The one who survived is my very favorite and the most tame, inquisitive, and good-natured. Loves to sit with you.

So sorry. We just lost 2 pullets to black snake, and countless eggs. My husband killed one and we thought he was it, 5 feet long. Then we found another one eating our eggs. Thankfully we found them in time to kill them. That's your best chance. Both of ours we found in the middle of the day, not in the night like we expected.
