I didn't know you had a thread about this. It will take me a bit to get through all the pages lol. I was thinking of getting some meaties next year, so I'll be following this thread to see how it goes for you! I sure wish I was going to chickenstock, I'd really like to see the processing demo, I need to learn how to do it better.

ok I bought another scale today up to 11lbs this time

It has been raining non stop for 4 days and it is no lie when I say all my acres are swamps and the meatie pen is NASTY!!! Im hoping the rain will wash out some of the poop-it was doing great when sun broke early this week and dried everything up and we layed hay down and cleaned their coop. There is 3 inches of nothing but mud and poop in that huge run-we have 1/3 of it covered to protect them from the rain but they go in it anyway and just sit in it! Tomorrow when I get home I am going to weigh a bunch and see how we are doing on weights-still have 25/26 growing big and dirty too-When the weather breaks I will clean the coop out too Sat is supposed to be nice high 60's so they will get a complete clean up-DH said never again will we do meaties because of all teh mess and smells-I think though If I do them in May/June he'll change his tune?? Or if he likes their flavor and such. He wants me to process them now as they look to be 4-5 lbs now-and he's says thats plenty big enough-Feed went up to almost 15$ a bag from 11$ just 6 weeks ago-so that puts a damper too:-( I might just process one up this weekend and see how they are:) Ill take plenty of photos if I do-
