Figures.....I buy a brand new $75 trap and the trigger mechanism is so sloppy I have to take great care to set it as a "hair trigger". It can be a good thing, but also the slightest bump or rattle of the trap can set it off. So if the animal fools around on the outside (which will happen) it'll most likely go off. Its set, but when I get more time I'll have to see what adjustment I can make to fix it.

When you catch your culprit, do NOT haul it off and release it to make it someone else's problem. Eliminate it. Humanely, of course.

Nice! but I hope I don't have that many, Sheesh. This did some damage to the trap, hopefully I can make it work still. what brand trap are you using? Mine is the Countyline from tractor supply.....junk

I'm honestly not sure what brand it is, but I did get it from TSC. It came with a second, smaller trap, which I used to trap a mink many years ago. I've had really good luck with mine--I've had them for probably 10 years or so, and they're still going strong. Granted, the raccoon plague has only been going on for a few years, so the traps have only been used extensively fairly recently.

I'm well aware, Thank you

I also let my animals free range and there is a risk that goes along with that as well.
