My first shipment

I'v finally dragged my mom into the world of ordering chickens from hatcheries. We're getting 3 RIRs, 2 BRs, and 2 Black Stars from MPC on Septemer 8th. I don't want to wait that long for my babies.

By the way, are Black Stars like BSLs? Because we ordered them for our BSL rooster. I am so excited. I have heard several good things about MPC. What do you think about them?
Also, how do I prepare? I have only picked chicks up from feed stores. I am thinking that I will need to set up our heat lamp, clean the brooder after the last batch of occupants leave, get them a waterer and a feeder, and put vitamins in their water. Do I need to put shavings in my wire-bottom brooder?

congrats! raising chicks is always fun.as for preparing, clear the brooder of ALL chickens. give them chick med or non med scratch,a waterer, a heat lamp ect all the basics you would put in a brooder for chicks you were taking home from the feed store.that should do.bye

Thanks. They come in just a week now. We just have to disinfect and clean their new brooder really good, put in shavings, and get the feeder and waterer ready. We already ahve a brooder picked out. We told the post office that they're coming, too. We're just about set! Hehe. I'm such a worrisome chicken mommy. My chicks haven't even hatched yet and I'm already worried about them!
