Just wanted to post a pic of my eight week old showgirl chick. This is my first one. I have hatched a few others, all from the same pair. All of them have few, if any feathers on their middle toes. Is this a common fault in showgirls? Most have good toe separation, and appear like they are going to have very nice crests. Most have good shreddy feathers on their wings. How long till they get their full plumage? I think so far it looks pretty good overall. ALL of them have this really black skin that shows on their necks. I'm really glad about that! Anyhow, any showgirl breeders know about how to feather up the middle toes? I am just guessing it is more crosses to better birds, lather, rinse, repeat...

Anyone out there have showgirls with really nice feet?

when i showed my showgirls, they should have the feet feathering as a show silkie, the only thing that put them into a showgirl catargory is the naked necks, that area should be the only area naked of feathers. but not to much either, lol
here is my showgirl roo (blizzard rip) this photo was taken at the congress nationals 2008 i think, by a lady who did books, i cant remeber her name nor the book, i wish i could she used him in her book.
but anyway he got DQ and so did my showgirl hen, i ask one of teh judges why they got DQ, lol get this one becouse i had them in the wrong cages, i had the roo in the hen cage and the hen in the roo cage, but he said over all they looked great though. but another had pointed out to me that his skin should be a darker, which she is right.

I like breeding silkie to sg to keep the silkie type.
