My first time incubating eggs: day 6

I candled the eggs just for fun today and I think all of them are fertilized. I am going to candle them again on day 10, day 14, and day 17. I am going to go on lockdown on day 18. My hydrometer/Thermometer arrived early and came today. It seems to be working. My hydrometer/Thermometer says the humidity is 62%. Is that okay because my incubator doesn't let me control the humidity.

I think your humidity is too high. You want 30-40% until lockdown. Then bump it up to 60-70.

Yea and I just realized you're in Florida so it will always be high. I am far from an expert, I have just read that high humidity is a big reason for late quitters. Good luck with your hatch, keep us posted!

you can help bring down the humidity by adding a dry sponge. most people say to have it at 50-55% and then 65-70% during lock down, but i'm only on day 2 of incubating.

I just hatched 6 chicks yesterday! I did 50% up until ‘lockdown’ then raised it to 75% and that worked great! I read an article saying temp is more important than humidity but who knows!? Not me, this was my first time hatching my own too! Good luck!!

i don't know that placement too important, I just put mine in the corner and it went from 60% to 54% in an hour or two. EDIT: make sure it is a new sponge that doesn't have any chemicals/cleaner on it.

I just hatched eggs... put 14 in and got 12, I kept my humidity between 50-55 for day 1-17, and then on lockdown(18-21) I kept it between 65-75
