My first timer chicken has been broody for 7 days...

Think I can give her some eggs yet? She's been on the nest, day and night.

If it's her first time usually it's not always going to work....I would wait till 2 years of her age for her to hatch and raise her chicks. You can still do it, but there just may not be as many chicks that survive or need help being incubated and/or raised compared to her next couple of batches. However, she might be a perfect mom and have no complications! Hope that helps!

That's a good idea if you want chicks but have a back-up! Often a first time hen is unreliable and probably more infertile eggs unless you have a good amount of "broody" Roosters.. Good luck!

I usually do not trust all my precious eggs with first timers. Running an incubator just in case is a good idea. How old are your Wyandottes? I have one about a year old now.

I have some shipped eggs coming, but I also currently have 19 baby chicks. Both my Wyandottes are about 9 months old. I'm ok with low hatch rates, I'm almost praying for them...

I'd say go for it. My first time broody that's also like 9 months old (Buff orpington cross) hatched 14 of her 15 eggs, and is a lovely caring mother.
What kind of Wyandottes are your girls?

The really broodly one is a BLR, and the thinking about it one is a GLW. My SLW thinks they're both fools and wants nothing to do with motherhood.

Welp, put the BLR in a more suitable brooding nest and gave her 9 eggs. She was very happy with both and settled in. The GLW is still not entirely sure and is fixated on the wrong nest, in the wrong place. I've got 9 eggs for her too, but am waiting to be sure she's into it. They're shipped and had detached cells, so they have to sit for a couple of days anyway.

Edit: I took her old nest completely out of the coop and if she breaks, I'll incubate.
