My first try at this.

This is my first try at this. I don't currently own any chickens yet, but I can't wait to start. I first need to build a coop to lockem up in at night. Maybe you guys can helpout with telling me what I need. Anything would be helpful and appreciated.
Anyways heres my coop (not finished)

I'm lookin for free range chickens that produce eggs. I'm going to start out with just 5 or 6.
Anyone have any for sale in Norman, Okla?

Wow, it looks like you are off to a great start! If you are looking for advice, I would suggest a below ground barrier to prevent animals from digging under.

I am afraid I am in California, just culled my flock to two ( 4 out of 5 were cockerals!). Good luck to you.

Very nice. As I am sure you know, every critter out there seems to like a chicken dinner. Just fortify the coop with everything that you can to keep them out.

I like the design. But as others have suggested, please think about sturdier fencing and underground wire. And I even put wire over the top under the tin.

That is looking great... your chickens will be very happy with their new digs.

I agree though that you need to reinforce the chicken wire with something stronger like hardware cloth or 2x4 welded wire. Make sure you bury wire around the entire structure down at least 15 inches to prevent predators from digging underneath also.

Remember to put your roosts higher than your nest boxes as you don't want your chickens sleeping in the nest boxes.

I don't know what your winters are like there in OK but you might want to consider putting wood at one end instead of the wire so that there is a more enclosed area to protect the chickens from weather.

I think your wire will work just fine. I have the same on my run and it has stopped 2 week old cavees that got in there by mistake and charged the fence. so don't worry about replacing it.

I would dig about a 6 inch ditch and pour it full of concrete to keep dogs and such from digging under your fence in the front of the coop.

I suggest making an enclosed area that you can heat with a lamp. being in OK i am sure it gets pretty cold.

If you are going to free range your chicks they need a way out. It looked like your door was pretty high up do you have a way for the chicks to get out?

Eggs or free range meat? If you are looking for eggs, I suggest making some nesting boxes. For 5 to 6 chicks 3 boxes should be fine. A good size for a box is 18x18x18 with them being about 18 inches off the ground.
