this morning i awoke to the strangest noise at like 5AM!!!! it was my roo practiceing his crow!, lol so cute! well he has "crowed" before but its usually when i let them out of the coop, he steps out and honks, and everyone falls out. this morning however, it was forever till he stopped, i have two 2mo rir roos, so maybe they were having a contest? do they have different vioces? will i be able to tell them apart? its not noisey now, i could sleep thro it if i tryed, but how long till it gets louder? i mean like i can hear it down the road loud, And will someone be able to eat one of them before that happens? when would you eat a rooster anyways? ... NOT sure anyone Will eat anyone tho... lol, i m a vegetarian... WAS vegan, but promised dh i d eat eggs if i could have chickens, but THATS another story, lol... i have more questions, but they can wait...

They'll only get LOUDER... rehome or send to freezer camp.

Are you saying that if you have two roos at the same age that they'll try to outdo each other with crowing. I have some chicks that are 4 or 5 weeks old i guess and i think that i have two. I'm quite new at this so i was just wondering. i've heard that if they've grown up together they may not fight and work together if they're seperated from the hens. I really have no clue though. ANY info on this would be great!!! Thanks.

Tomorrow, I'm separating into some pens. I'm putting my Partridge Cochin and my Golden Cuckoo Marans together in a roo pen. I had them in with my Blue Roo and the other 10 pullets and there is too much chaos... and they are all crowing... to outdo each other.

Some people live near railroad tracks and the trains don't wake them up. You just get used to it. At least I do. I have a young rooster crowing and my neighbor has 2 more. They are part of the environment and they don't keep me awake.

Roosters do have their own calls. You should be able to tell them apart.

I have one pullet and one cockeral so it hasn't crowed yet so I'm not sure about how loud they get. I was also wondering if Cuckoo Maran roosters are loud

I just recently rehomed 2 of my 5 roos and I can tell you that each has a distintive crow. I don't even have to see them to tell you which one of them is crowing, I can tell by the sound.

They do get pretty loud, but since we're out in the country and can have as many as we want, I don't have to worry about complaints from the neighbors. Most of my neighbors that I've talked to said that either they don't usually hear them, and if they do the sound doesn't bother them.

Mine don't seem to crow to try and outdo each other, but they do crow at any and all times of the day. They only seem to crow at night if something startles them and they usually don't start up in the morning until the sun is up.

My bantam roosters, that were penned seperatley...so they couldnt fight, would ALWAYS try to out crow eachother VERY high pitched noise lol

wow! that is cool they sound diiferent. well no crows this morning. i asked my neighbors if they heard anything, nope. they sleep with the ac on windows shut, so i guess i dont have much to worry about yet. the husband was Happy. he said he likes the sound and gets up at like 5am anyways. they do fight often, but its not bad yet. i want to see which roo 'wins' the dominence thing and if hes nice to the girls, then see if my in laws will eat one. since theyre RIR's though, they might both get eaten... i heard theyre real mean,.
