My first Welsummer egg!

Hey, I got my very first Welsummer egg today! Yippee! IMVHO it is a beautiful color, too, AND with nice speckles. I'll post a pic later.

OTOH, this egg is relatively tiny. This is NOT a pullet egg -- this hen was laying at her previous home -- but it only weighs 50 g. I've got a BANTAM araucana who lays 44 g eggs!

I have given this girl a stern talking to. I give her big props on the color, but that size has got to improve. She's just lucky I don't eat chicken!

Okay, here's the egg. It's on a white background, but it's a very dark cloudy day today!

Wow, that's every bit as dark as most Marans eggs. I like the speckles!
