My first welsummer eggs!

Ugh you don’t want to know. She is 29 1/2 weeks old. My longest-to-lay bird ever, but worth the wait.
Woo Hoo! We got our first Welsummer egg this week too! Mine aren't speckled yet and pretty small too.

My Welsummer is almost 28 weeks. My 3 other hens the same age as her have been laying for weeks. My older hens have started molting this week, is it possible she will not lay until the spring?

@jessg84 ive only got the one Welsummer, so I can’t even really generalize...

But anecdotally... I would say she took FOREVER to lay, and, has been off laying already for weeks after others were attacked by a hawk. She isn’t the most productive.... but that’s just so far. I have faith.

28 weeks is still within the realm of a slow-grower... I think you’ll get eggs this year.
