I have 6 birds all 4 weeks old. 4 are GCSL pullets and then I have an OEGB and a black silkie. What happens if my silkie breeds with a GCSL? Are there hazards in breeding bantams with standard size chickens.
I am totally new at this and I'm just curious about genetics.

Depends on which parent the chicks take after. Silkies are quite edible, as evident by PurpleChickens many posts, they just dont have much meat. Kinda like eating rice cakes or steak.... they are both edible, one is just much better than the other.

I have a white silkie mixed in with all my bantams. hes the dad of most of them and theres absolutely nothing wrong with them. I have heard that you can eat silkies. I watched that show bizarre foods and they eat it in another country. So why couldnt you eat them here.

Most folks wouldn't care for the bruise-coloured meat
