been reading and seeing all these great coops, I wanted to post some pics of my coop, its not perfect, but so far so good, my three chickaladies, arent complaining : ). so here goes, I call it my Frankencoop, because, I pretty much made it from salvaged wood, they only thing I bought was the tires/bolts, the chicken wire for the run, a few hinges, and a box of screws, and one sheet of plywood. total spent on it is definetly under 60 bux.

the first thing made here is the nest box : )
\\
I got so lucky and came across this framed pallet in a dumpster behind a furniture rental place!! attached the nest box !!

ok framed out for the roof and sides, I joked that my coop was starting to look like a saloon : ) Oh the 2x4 were more wood i found in the dumpster behind the furniture place : )

ok here is wherei spent fifteen bux for a sheet of plywood, framed out the sides and made the roof,

ok roof and sides done, the gaps up close to the roof are framed out with chicken wire for ventalation i already had it , and we went to harbor frieght and got the tires for 15 bux, I love harbor frieght!!!!!

started framing the run, bottom is all framed out just needs to be wrapped up with chick wire, and yes thats my pups trying to be lil chicks : )

all done you cant see the wire cuz of the angle of the pic.

we have added some more trim around the run, cuz my puppies kept trying to poke thru the wire, and my bf built them a little ramp up to the coop door. Since the roof is hinged and pretty much opens up completely we just open it up and the ladies will jump up from thier roosts onto the roof, and out to the yard. They free range as much as possible, when they get tired they jump up and put themselves to bed, usually around dusk, they are looking up at me from their roost like k close the roof, gnite!!!
they have been doing fine with this set up. I just have three ladies and the coop is prolly four feet by 3 feet.
I dont close them up so they have free run to go in and out of the coop to their run, whenever they want. my ladies are usually up at sunrise, peck pecking. We hose down the whole coop every couple of days and dust it with diatomacious earth. the space in the pallets floor makes it super easy to hose out, I hose it out and we move the coop somewhere else. the good poo goes to fertilize my lawn YEAH!!! I was worried about the floor, and wanted to put a solid flooring down, now nope. Ive seen them walking around, they are fine. : ) . We plan on upgrading it a lil bit, with a fan and some solar lights, lol, but that will come later, for now, my chickaladies think they are living in the trump towers : )
