My friend is hatching for me.. using BLEACH?

So does anyone have any idea why Mold is growing on the eggs? I have never heard of them growing mold, unless they were soaked too long, I can't see how they would grow mold.

IMO the only way that mold could grow on the eggs is if the bator was really dirty before setting the eggs and the humidity has been pretty high during incubation but that is just a guess.

When I'm saving up eggs from my own hens to incubate, I wash them in a fairly strong hot bleach solution, then rinse them off. I do this as soon as I collect them and before I store them. I've never done it with eggs I've got from someone else or eggs I've had shipped to me, so I don't know if it makes any difference how old the eggs are before you bleach them.

I get very good hatch rates from doing it this way, and not so good when I don't wash them at all...
