Im sure this is a many times asked before question, but Ive been reading here about 4 hours now and cant find an answer for me, so I will finally just ask.
I have silkies and frizzles. They are laying and hatching well. The silkies are beautiful. The frizzles are well, ugly and frazzled. All of their wing feathers are just long pins. Are they just not developed yet or is something wrong with them? They were pretty once, but now just awful.
Thanks so much for your help!

If the feathers are straight they probably aren't frazzled. Frazzled means they have 2 copies of the frizzle gene and they usually end up with extremely curly, brittle feathers. Have any pics? How old are they? Detils might help.

I am no expert on chickens. But I do believe I read some thing on here that said to never breed frizzle to frizzle. To only breed them to regular feathered birds..

I just recall reading this. Please kindly correct me if I am wrong..

Well, I cant seem to get a pic to post. But the one Im looking at the pins are straight. But when she had feathers they were all single thin feathers and curley.
And I meant frazzled and ragged looking as in worn out, didnt know it was a real term.
They will be a year old in August.

BTW my roos are gray silkies. I have silky hens that are white, red and gray ones. And the frizzle hens are red, and black.
Another question...I have had 13 hatch so far, and only one had 4 toes on each foot. All the rest have had 5. Does the 5 toes mean silky? Or is it just a wait and see kind of thing.

LOL, didn't realize how you were using the word frazzled. The 5 toes means they are part Silkie, but will only feather out Silkie if they have 2 copies of the Silkie gene since it's recessive.

1st generation Sizzles are actually regularly feathered (not Silkie due to it being recessive) and can be smooth or frizzled. They'll have other Silkie traits such as 5 toes, crests, black skin, etc. If you breed the frizzled ones of these back to Silkies you will then get frizzled Silkies.
