My Girlie was Killed by a Hawk- How do I keep her sissy happy

Hi everyone, I just lost one of my very first chickens on Saturday. I'm so lost because this has never happened before. A hawk ended up decapitated my silly Brown Leghorn Libby, and her best friend/sissy Sunny, Buff Orphington, has just been so sad. I got both of them at the same time, and they basically grew up together. I did end up buying more chicks a couple months after them, so my Sunny girl is not lonely, but I can tell by her behavior she's been sad. She refuses to leave my side when she sees me. I feel so hopeless for her. I just don't know what to do. How can you make a grieving chickie happy? Is there such a thing to do? Just curious.. I've been telling my family & friends that I plan on buying her a puppy to help heal the emotional pain, but we already have a dog that thinks she's a chicken, and hangs out with them constantly. I just don't know anymore. If you have any advise, I'd love to hear it.

Honestly, in my experience, when I sell a hen, the others may seem to notice that she's gone, but they get over it pretty quickly. Since you have others, I think she will be just fine. Have the others always been with the original 2? Just give her some extra lovin and attention for a few days, make sure the others don't bother her without her buddy around.

I do have other girls at home. There's 3 altogether as of now. But the way they act is like they are a whole, but have their own clique? If that makes sense. Sunny lost her best friend Libby who she was with 24/7 since they were DAYS old. Also, she witness Libby be murdered by the evil hawk. She refuses to go near the corner of the house where you can still see her feathers. It has been a emotional rollercoaster.

Hawks seem to be very prevalent right now. We all need to keep a watchful eye out for those flying devils.

I'm so sorry. Good news is she will be ok, the loss is still pretty fresh but time heals everything. You will just have to devote a little bit extra until that happens. All your ladies will eventually be one single group, it just takes chickens forever to totally accept anything just like it takes forever for them to get over anything.
