finished my "chicken shack" this weekend and the girls really enjoy scratchin the ground and chasing bugs and being, well, chickens, and I really enjoy watching them. I say its finished but I havnt put a roof on yet, I leave the coop open and they go in and out during the day for water and feed and I just closed them up as they are roosting. At alittle over a month old they have alot of personality and are figuring out who's the head lady (Priscilla the RIR)

super cute - my (first time ever) chicks are a week old tomorrow - hard to believe they will be as bigs as your on ust three (or so) more weeks!

Just wondering - what are the dimensions of your coop? it look slike what I would like to get for mine, basically just a "night house" in a large run, since weather here is nearly always dry and warm/hot

the run area is 12'x10', and is 6' tall but I wish i woulda made it about 6" taller so I didnt bang my head on the rafters! I figured this summer they're gonna need all the breeze they can get!

Can you post pixs of the top of the coop? I know it doesn't have a roof yet, but I'd like to see how you did the rafters. Thanks:frow

That's about the size I'm planning for my run - 12' X 9' , thats the dimensions of the chainlink panels we already have here.

What are the dimensions of the coop on your photo, please?

The coop is 3'x6' inside so I've limited myself to 4 hens in my opinion which should be enough eggs for my family. The framing of the roof is simply a 2x4 run midspan both ways, I am going to add a 2x4 across the top of the front to give the roof some slope. My neighbor does aluminum construction and said if I help him take down an existing carport for a customer I can have the 15' long pans for my roof. Looking for a "farm fresh eggs" metal sign to hang on the chicken shack:)

I love the picture of Priscilla by herself! My babies are about the same age and I hope to have my coop complete this week! Thanks for making me smile
