My girls were attacked by my daughters pup

I have a new pup he’s 7 months old he wants to play and chase no way he can be loose around the flock without being on a leash. As was mentioned you have to train them it doesn’t mean they do or don’t have rights it just means just like you train a child to behave we train our dogs. Eventually, they will be able to be with the other animals but after they are taught they are all part of the same family. As for your hens since they are still up walking around you can try to save them but it’s going to take a lot of care, for one right off your going to have to put them out of reach of flies or they will be covered in maggots. Treating their wounds they need to be clean I’d actually put them into a warm bath with Epsom salt to clean the wounds then spread some type of antibiotic ointment over the whole area leave unwrapped. There is a spray called Silver Honey anti microbial spray gel that might work better since you would be spraying instead of touching the wounds. Honey is another but you’re going to have to put them somewhere where they can heal. And not peck each others wounds. IMG_2910.jpeg

@Nana2 Your girls really do need to see a vet. I agree with everything @Miss Lydia says. And, if anyone else can suggest what type of oral antibiotics and pain relief they should be given, that would be helpful. It’s very sad that this happened with your hens. The wounds are horrific-looking. Have you been able to rinse them and assess the severity? How are they doing today? If you are willing to put in the time and effort to heal them, be prepared for a very long recovery. It’s so important to keep dirt, debris, and flies away from them. They need to be housed in a quiet, stress-free place. I can only tell you what I’ve done with such serious injuries. I kept the bantam hen in the house until she was fully healed (attack by neighbors unsupervised dog). I monitored her closely. It took weeks to heal her torn-away tail nub and surrounding tissue, but she made a full recovery. Let us know how they’re doing. The wounds need to remain coated at all times with antibiotics or whatever you’ve chosen. Have food and water with vitamins available at all times. I do realize that you may have decided to put them down. Just remember that any decision you’ve made has been for what you feel is best for them.
