Today at around 3pm one of my geese went away alone to his pen, and he is struggling to stand up, he looks drunk, falling asleep while standing, then collapsing. He has a bit of fluid around his mouth, its not alot, and it looks quite thick maybe it's dried. No idea what could be the problem, the other 3 are fine. Im wondering if he ate a dodgy mushroom, and if so where did he find it cause i want one too. Is there anything i can do to help him?

Bring him somewhere quiet, dark and warm, this sounds serious. He may need to see the vet immediately.

It’s hard to say what may be wrong because many liinesses present themselves in the same way, zinc or lead toxicity jump to mind first. It can cause them to walk funny, balance issues, regurgitation, slowed digestion. Treatment involves flushing any metal from his system with fluids, activated charcoal, maybe a bit of peanut butter, and then edta for a few weeks to bind and flush it from his blood.
It could also be a respiratory illness, viral, bacterial or fungal like aspergillosis, have you heard him coughing?

Thank u so much. No coughing at all. He looks slightly better today, i put him in the lake for a swim. He looked happier in the water than out, but he still wont stand up properly. He has drank a lot of water. Sometimes he does a little gag. Like as if he was about to vomit, but he doesn't do that alot ive seen him do it like 3 times in 2 days. Maybe its unrelated. He is drinking water but he is not too fussed about food. He has eaten, but not like normal. And you can tell in his eyes he is ill and energy is low. I am going to go to find this activated charcoal, have u any idea where i could find some? I havent got any peanut butter, but would some almond milk help? With some sugar? Thank alot for ur help i dont have alot of experience with geese and ive not been lucky

I have no idea what almond milk would do, I’m not sure sugar would do any good, the idea with the peanut butter is that it will help him pass any metal that he may have swallowed, any fiberous food will help, although if it’s metal poisoning it can slow their digestion down to the point that they can have a blockage so it can be dangerous making them eat. It’s critical the metal leaves his system though. Peanut butter can also work as a laxative so it can speed up his system, if you have any dandelion leaves it is a laxative that can help protect his liver and kidneys also, if you have any of those growing around make him eat a few.
Watery fruits and vegetables like strawberries, apples, berries, melons, cucumbers, and tomatoes can also help.

You can find some activated charcoal on amazon https://www.amazon.com/Natures-Way-...ords=activated+charcoal&qid=1589816998&sr=8-6

You can also try these below, b vitamins can help boost his immune system, the nutri-drench will cover any other vitamins he may need, the vetRX may help him fight off whatever it is if it’s bacterial. You can give it all to him orally, including the b vitamins. Best method is to inject it strait into his mouth, but you can also put it into his water.

If it is zinc or lead toxicity he has a very guarded prognosis, if it’s mild they can pull through, he may start to look better but it causes organ damage.

By the way what do his droppings look like? Are they really wet or little logs? It can help determine his health.

Hi thanks for asking. Shes alot. better today than she was. She managed to stand up on her own but she still isn't moving around like normal, her eyes have a bit of shine back but she still isnt 100 percent. She is eating, ive been bringing her grass to eat but it seems as if she has forgotten how to eat it sometimes like she just holds it in her mouth, fits out a bit trying to eat it but isnt very successful. She is a bit all over the place. It looks like she has had a stroke or smth, she has forgotten to walk or eat properly. Im hoping she is on road to recovery. She s alot better than she was since she has got up on her own she hasnt been able to stand for the last 2 days. Now she is. She is eating her other seed food though shes eating alot of that and drinking g lots of. Water. Ill keep u posted tomorrow on progress thank you for your time and help

Glad to hear there’s some improvement, you could try getting her to eat a bit of watermelon or bread if nothing else works. Sometimes soaking their feed in water to make a soupy mash works best, they can’t resist it.

It is possible she may have had a stroke, it does happen. If that’s the case it may be awhile before she’s completly back to normal.
