When I got up this morning everything was fine.....
He had a normal day, grazing, bathing, poop was fine.
When i went to put him away tonight he was wett, foaming at the mouth and not moving at all....any ideas what happened?
I was feeding him chicken starter and letting him graze. I have had him for 2 weeks and the duck he stays with is fine. I dont understand what happened and we are all really upset. Before i get another one i would like to find out what happened so i dont have a repeat.

it sounds like he either ate something bad or he choked perhaps.

The foaming at the mouth makes me think it was eating related.

Did he get into something to drink that was bad? if he was wet maybe he got into a pool of something icky and inhaled too much of it?

just guessing.

How old was he? Was it possible that a snake attempted to swallow him and couldn't. I had one get in the chicks cage yesterday and swallow one up to the shoulders before I discovered it. He looked like what you're describing.

I keep them in a basket, on the table upstairs in the balcony, I handle them all the time, he was not an outside goose so to speak....I am not quite sure how old but if i had to guess, 3 weeks at the most

Im sorry you lost your Gossie, I love my geese, but have lost 5 in the last 12 months, to one thing or another...Its hard. The most recent was last week I lost my gander embden, trousers, he was my secret favourite

Anyway sending geese thoughts your way

I feel so badly for the losses! I get up every morning and hold my breath that my two goosies are OK because I waited so long to hatch my own!

Trousers? OH, I LOVE that name!!! I am just so sorry!

It sounds like maybe it got sick.., or choked as suggested? We had a few chicks from our shipment die and this is what happened right before they died. They started foaming up.., no idea why and we lost 3 our of 35 or so within 2 weeks of recieving them.., but it was sad

One died right in my hands while I was trying to give it water and bring it around..,I had called the hatchery and they said this happens due to a rough ship.., that sometimes the injuries don't kill them till a week or two later
