My grandson's first grade teacher wants to try and hatch some chicken eggs so the kids can see this happen. I live 12 miles from the school. The teacher lives 25 miles away. My question is would it be possible for me to run the incubator at my house for the first 18 days so I can do the turning because it will a problem for the teacher to do it three times a day plus the weekends. Then on the 18th day unplug the incubator from house current, place the incubator and eggs in my well heated truck and make the 12 minute run to school. Then lock the incubator down for the last three days of incubation. The incubator would be off for 12 minutes. It is a Brinsea Mini Eco Incubator that will about 8 eggs. This way the kids could see this happen without the teacher being out her weekends and only being to turn the eggs twice a day. Thanks for any advice. Benny

It may only be 12 minutes away but you will also be down extra time for signing in at the front desk of school and carrying the incubator into the school classroom. My suggestion would be to fire up the incubator as if you had eggs in it and then do a test run. Turn it off for as long as you believe you would normally, then see how much the temp drops. Or I would get a car adapter to plug it in the car. Otherwise I wouldn't do it and risk the eggs dying.
