Our GPs had 12 puppies in our basement this morning/afternoon. Holy moly was she big.

my exact question... I'm certain though that there is a good answer.

I have a dog that has to be chained at times or everything would be destroyed... I'd love to take her to the country where she could run at will but... well it's a long story.

I've seen what happens when puppies get caught in chain links and in collars...

Please remove the chain and collar, for their sake?

Did I mention that she's in my basement? She's a working farm dog, not a house dog.

Yes, you said she's in your basement.....I seriously doubt that having just had 12 pups she's going anywhere or going to cause trouble. Sorry, but I don't like to see any dog chained, especially a new mother. Hope the pups don't get tangled in the chain.

I appreciate the advice, thanks.

Same here, the thing is she hates and I mean hates being in the house, My son and I had to carry her into the basement. She is a working farm dog from the word go, she is perfect. I appreciate the interest in the chain but I don't have a choice, we have a large timber frame where she could easily get into the crawl spaces and reek all kinds of havoc.

She is usually never on a chain she's with our GP male that is in a dog run 200' X 10' that is wrapped around the chicken coop, the sad thing is it's currently under at least a foot of snow with drifts well over 4' and 18 degrees. I personally don't like her in the basement or on a chain but she chews through everything else we have had on her. I appreciate the interest and also the understanding, but I do not have a choice.

Beautiful dog, what are the puppies mixed with?

I found our new kitten strangled to death in our dogs chains a few years ago. Someone had let her outside by accident. It is very gruesome and heartbreaking, just be careful with that chain.
