My Great Pyrenees chicken guard dogs had puppies!!!

cluckcluck42 ~ Pyrs come in both a solid white and a badger marked coats with any combo of grey, reddish brown, or varying shades of tan. As long as no "spot" covers more than I think a third of the dog its still fine as far as breed standards.

BuckeyeDave ~ Do we get to see daddy? Our your dogs AKC or just pure? Momma has a great looking black nose, drives me CRAZY seeing pyrs with pink noses, but thats just me. Is it her first litter? She looks to be doing well, your not helping me with me trying to put off getting another male Pyr this spring lol Thanks fo the pics please keep them comming

They are non AKC, this is Buddy, he is not related to Molly at all. Both dogs are all white with the tips of the ears and some black spots on the skin that do not transfer to the fur, double dew claws, black nose, tails make a wheel, he can put his feet on the top of the 5' hog panel and his head is a good half to a full foot above the panel, both Molly and Buddy will come up to the fence when you arrive but are quickly more interested in doing their job, it really is cool to watch them work, always staring off into the distance always looking and listening. I have seen Buddy in the doghouses twice, both times it was cold and rainy, other than that he's in the kennel run near the field, laying and snoozing during the day, interested, alert and barking at night. All of the attributes everyone looks for in a GP, Buddy and Molly have them.

I picked Molly up from a gamebird farm in Kentucky, she's about 4, this is her 4th litter but only the second one with us. Buddy is one year old, we bought him in April. He was bought by a person who loved the fluffy puppy and then realized "holy crap, I really don't want this dog". Until Molly realized they were on the same side she was very mean to him (almost to the point that I didn't think Buddy would survive), she is vary protective, she was always between him and the chickens, but after 3-4 days they became good friends, she then taught him the way of the chickendog.

I don't want to produce fluffy house or kennel pets forcing them into a lifestyle they weren't bred for, I want to produce Chicken Guard Dogs.

Very cute puppies! Congratulations! The breeder I got my Maremma from just had a litter 13, wow, I can't imagine so many puppies!

I understand what you are saying about her not being a housedog. We have a ex-pen that we have used for situations like that. If you don't have one, what about using a cattle panel or something like that to block her into a small area of the basement?

Can't wait to see more pics as the get bigger and have their eyes open!

I love your puppies!! I miss my Pyrs so much and especially when I see new puppies of them. Please, people, she has explained her situation, stop trying to make your point it's not going to change things and just makes the tone of the post confrontational. Enjoy the puppies instead!

im guessing this is a large litter for pyrs ? i woud want a pup really badly but i live in MD and its a little to far away unfortunatly id love to her more about your LGDs do they protect anything else besides chickens ?

When Steven and Michelle were 7 and 8, Mozart and JoJo would get between them and any stranger. If they got to close to the front fence they would herd the kids back to the porch. It would drive them nuts when I'd tell the dogs "Bring them back" and they would go bring the kids back lol. They protected all of us and the other dogs, the chickens, the ducks, they are the best doggies in the world!! Just don't tell my other dogs I said that,,
